The Problem With My Castor Oil Pack That Led Me to Create This

I love my castor oil pack. I use it about three times a week — but it doesn't fit everywhere!

The biggest problem? My castor oil pack didn't fit on my feet.

I wanted to enjoy castor oil on the areas my pack couldn't reach, especially my feet, without having to cover myself in sticky oil or ruin my bamboo sheets.

So I created Castor Balm.

Castor oil without the mess

If you've ever used straight castor oil, you'll know exactly what I mean. It's thick, rich and incredibly oily. Wonderful for the skin, but not exactly something I wanted soaking into my sheets while I slept.

I wanted something I could scoop out, massage into my skin and then get straight into bed.

By combining castor oil with nourishing butters and oils, I created a rich balm that melts into the skin as you massage it in.

You still get that beautiful, nourishing feel and all the skincare benefits of castor oil, but in a much more practical, mess-free form.

How I use my Castor Balm

This has quickly become one of my favourite little self-care rituals.

Feet & heels – especially before bed when my skin needs extra nourishment. I’ve also added organic frankincense to the balm, and I love massaging it into my feet before bed. Frankincense contains Boswellia extracts, which may help maintain a healthy inflammatory balance and support immune resilience. Plus, I love the beautiful, grounding aroma — it makes applying Castor Balm to my feet such a lovely part of my evening self-care ritual.

Face – as I get older, I’ve noticed my skin is getting drier, so I love using Castor Balm as my nightly face moisturiser. I only need a tiny amount, and honestly, I love how my skin feels afterwards. It feels incredibly soft, nourished and moisturised. This has quickly become one of my favourite things to use on my face.

Breasts & décolletage – I love using it for a gentle lymphatic-style massage, working slowly and gently across the breast area and towards the surrounding lymphatic pathways. The balm gives your hands a beautiful glide while leaving the skin feeling nourished.

Armpits – another area I love incorporating into a gentle lymphatic-style massage. I apply a small amount and use light, sweeping movements as part of my self-care routine.

Belly – I love putting a little drop inside my belly button and massaging it around my belly, including around the upper abdomen and liver area.

And that's exactly why I made it.

My castor oil pack is great, but it can't go everywhere I want to use castor oil.

I still use my castor oil pack about three times a week, but Castor Balm is my in-between option — for the other days and for all those areas where a castor oil pack simply doesn't fit.

Why castor oil?

Castor oil is naturally rich in ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that gives it its thick, luxurious texture.

It has traditionally been loved in natural skincare for its rich, conditioning and moisturising properties.

What I love using Castor Balm for:

  • Supporting lymphatic drainage through gentle massage

  • Supporting the body's natural detox pathways

  • Encouraging lymphatic flow

  • Nourishing and conditioning dry skin

  • Softening rough areas like feet, heels, elbows and hands

  • Moisturising and softening mature, dry-feeling skin

A little goes a long way

Castor Balm is rich, so you don't need much.

Simply scoop out a small amount, warm it between your fingertips and massage it into your skin.

For me, it's become one of those little rituals that feels luxurious without being complicated.

I didn't want another product sitting in the cupboard.

I wanted something I would actually use.

Something nourishing.

Something practical.

Something I could use on my feet, face, belly, breasts and armpits…without sacrificing my beloved bamboo sheets.

I still love my castor oil pack three nights a week.

But Castor Balm is for everything in between — and everywhere my castor oil pack can't reach.

Castor oil — just without the mess.
